Parks can offer young people more than just a place to play by providing well-designed programs that promote physical, intellectual, psychological and social development. This policy brief, the third in a series based on lessons from Wallace’s Urban Parks Initiative, argues for parks’ role in a “constellation of community-based activities” and provides a guide to designing high-quality programs that young people will want to attend. Three detailed case studies show how such programs can help youth, parks and the larger community.
