Summary:

Pathways to Teaching Careers, a model developed by Wallace, aims to attract and train nontraditional candidates — such as school aides and returning Peace Corps volunteers — and place them as teachers in high-need districts and schools. This Urban Institute report evaluates Pathways’ success in recruitment and retention, as well as its graduates’ performance and service records. It follows up with policy recommendations that can help states and districts build upon some successful Pathways findings.
