Summary:

This analysis of 60 Wallace-supported “extended-service schools,” which offer learning and enrichment opportunities to children outside the school day, argues that no single approach will meet all kids’ needs. After-school programs need to provide a variety of learning offerings and approaches to reach the families they aim to serve. The report offers findings based on these programs’ experiences about how to develop and sustain beneficial services that appeal to children.
