The New York Times
Bob Herbert, a regular columnist for the op-ed page of The New York Times, threw a spotlight on Harvard’s new Wallace-supported doctoral degree in education leadership, saying the program was taking on the essential task of developing leaders “to help transform public education in the U.S.” Herbert noted that the three-year program is tuition free, an important factor, he said, if it is to recruit from the biggest pool of candidates. The program will combine classroom and field experience, along with teaching from Harvard’s schools of education, government and business. The idea, Herbert said, is “to produce a cadre of highly skilled educational leaders who are committed to reform of the profession, knowledgeable about the way children learn and well-grounded in the real world of practical management and politics.”
