Sheila Murphy joined the Foundation as a Program Officer in 1990. She is currently a Senior Program Officer on the Communities Team, focusing on out-of-school learning opportunities for children and youth. Previously, she managed the Foundation’s grantmaking in the literary arts and adult literacy.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Sheila was the Director of Sales & Marketing for Graywolf Press, a nonprofit literary publisher based in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has served as director of a statewide arts-in-education program in Minnesota and on the boards of several literary organizations including The Loft Literary Center, Coffee House Press and the Upper Midwest Booksellers Association. She has a B.A. from Macalester College in English Literature and Economics.
