Iowa is working to ensure that training programs and evaluation plans for education leaders are well coordinated with and supportive of state leadership standards, with particular emphasis on preparing leaders equipped to improve the performance of the lowest achieving schools. The state is also attempting to create new governance models at the district and school level to make the jobs of education leaders more doable.
