Illinois Profile

Illinois is reducing the bureaucracy of the state system governing K-12 education and streamline 2,800 pages of rules governing public education with the goal of increasing school leaders' flexibility and capacity to improve student achievement.  The state is also focusing on redefining the principal job so that it is more “doable” and make corresponding changes in leadership training for principals so that they can better support student achievement.
