Kansas Profile

Kansas is focusing on connecting leadership to classroom practice and changing the conditions for leaders to be successful.  As the connections evolve with the four demonstration districts in the first year, lessons learned will be incorporated into the work

In Year two, Kansas will develop new standards of effective leadership.  These will be used to assess the performance of leaders and to design new training programs for school leaders.  These standards will be developed by state representatives, universities and local school districts.  The content of university training programs, district training programs and the evaluation of principals’ on-the-job performance will be grounded in these standards.
