Louisiana is developing training programs for leaders at all levels of the education system – elementary, middle, high schools and universities. This will take place through a new Louisiana Leaders’ Induction Program and a Louisiana Principals’ Academy. The project is joining higher education with school districts to use state leadership standards in developing new training programs. The districts’ needs will be the predominant factor in designing the universities’ programs. The training programs will be based on research of best practices and the piloting of new programs in three urban and six rural districts throughout the state. A new statewide recruitment program will bring in new talent to be trained as education leaders.
