New Mexico is developing a “cross-sector” statewide data system covering all aspects of students’ lives and needs to inform decision-making about education programs. The data will be used for strategic planning, development of standards for leaders and students, financial resource reallocation, and aligning student assessments with the curriculum taught in schools.
Included in New Mexico’s work are strategies to bring about fundamental changes in how leaders have traditionally been prepared and supported in the state, including new methods of decision-making based on analysis of data from its new data system. Also included are mechanisms by which education leaders throughout the state will develop agreement on the outcome measures to be targeted.
