SALEM - Oregon Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo announced Thursday that the school districts of Beaverton, Bend-La Pine, Lincoln County, Nyssa, South Lane and Springfield and have been awarded educational leadership grants under the State Action for Education Leadership Project (SAELP).
SAELP is a state-based initiative funded by The Wallace Foundation to improve student achievement through strengthening school and district leadership.
The winning districts join Eugene School District as partners in the SAELP demonstration project. They will receive $10,000 per district per year for up to three years.
The demonstration project will focus on leadership development in the areas of cultural competency and literacy at the school and district level. Districts are expected to share research findings and results, disseminate best practices, promote innovation, and emphasize professional development.
“Leadership is key to the strength of our schools and the success of our students,” said Castillo. “These school districts showed us that hey are willing to help lead us toward the results we all want – success for all students.”
