The St. Louis Public Schools are considering investing nearly $2 million in a "boot camp" to train prospective principals.
However, school board members have questioned the district's planned partnership with the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Board member Ronald Jackson noted at a recent administrative meeting that a study by Arthur Levine, president of the Teachers College at Columbia University, found such university programs to be inadequate. He asked how this arrangement would be different.
Board member Vincent Schoemehl said the study was critical of schools of education and asked why the district wouldn't seek a partnership with a school of business or a school of administration.
