Rob D. Nagel has managed the foundation's investment portfolio since 1988 with responsibility for all investment matters including asset allocation, risk management and the selection and monitoring of investment managers. He is the staff liaison for the investment committee of the foundation's board. Under Nagel's guidance, the foundation has developed a fully diversified portfolio that received the Industry Innovation award for foundations from
aiCIO magazine in 2010 for its focus on return generation balanced with risk controls to preserve capital and maintain liquidity.
Before joining the foundation, Nagel worked at The Reader's Digest Association, Inc., as a senior financial analyst in marketing and a manager in corporate finance.
Nagel received an M.B.A. in finance and international business from the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, while working as a senior accountant at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. He attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he was an Alden Scholar, and earned a B.A. cum laude in political science and international relations from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. Nagel attended the Goethe Institute in Freiburg, Germany, where he continued his German language studies after graduating from college.
