Deanna Chernovetsky

Grants Associate

Deanna Chernovetsky joined Wallace in July 2016 as an administrative assistant in the Education Leadership unit. In 2023 she was promoted to grants associate. In this capacity, she supports the foundation by providing grants administration support to Wallace staff members and external partners and maintains accurate cash flow forecasting.

As administrative assistant and, later, program assistant, Chernovetsky supported the vice president of Education Leadership, three program officers, grantees, and external stakeholders in initiative planning and management.

Chernovetsky previously worked at Regus, a shared workspace company, as a client service representative. She then spent six years working in higher education at Caldwell College (now University) and Montclair State University. At Caldwell, she served as administrative assistant in the career planning and development office, where she helped students find careers after graduation. As a program assistant in secondary and special education at Montclair State, she provided administrative support to the unit’s chairperson, faculty members, adjuncts, and department advisers, as well as assisted with student teaching placements for graduate students.

A Caldwell graduate with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Chernovetsky is also an avid baker and volunteer with For Goodness Cakes. This nonprofit matches foster and marginalized young people with volunteers who bake a special cake for them to celebrate birthdays or other occasions.
