Justin Bass

Operations Specialist

Justin Bass joined The Wallace Foundation in 2019 as a receptionist and became the foundation’s operations specialist in 2023. In this role, he ensures the smooth running of our workplace—providing a warm and friendly welcome to our guests at reception, managing our office functions to best support our work and wellbeing, and seeing to it that our internal convenings and celebrations are a success.

Bass came to Wallace from 92nd Street Y, where he was a teaching artist for elementary afterschool programs and a dance teacher for adults.

He earned his B.F.A. in dance from SUNY College at Brockport. During his time there, he was a touring and performing intern with Garth Fagan Dance, performing at renowned stages including The Joyce Theater. After graduating, he danced professionally for five seasons with what is considered by many to be Salt Lake City’s premier modern dance company, the Repertory Dance Theatre, under the direction of Linda C. Smith. In 2022, he unveiled his first choreographic work in Brooklyn as a recipient of a grant to present work in the Split Bill Series at Triskelion Arts. When he’s not choreographing a dance, Bass enjoys making candles, which became his new hobby while he was working from home during the pandemic.
