Mark Diekmann

Grants Associate

Mark Diekmann joined Wallace as a grants associate in 2016. He came to Wallace from ExpandED Schools Inc., where he worked for almost a decade—first as grants specialist, then grants analyst, and finally budget and finance analyst. Before that, Diekmann was an early childhood educator at several schools in the New York City area, including the Montclair (N.J.) Cooperative School, and the City and Country School in New York City.

Diekmann received his bachelor’s degree in geology from New Jersey City University, where he was an F. Steele Hunt Scholarship and Presidential Scholarship recipient and graduated summa cum laude. He minored in elementary school education while earning provisional teaching certifications for the State of New Jersey as both an elementary school and earth science teacher.

Before returning to college and completing teacher training, Diekmann worked for almost 15 years at Cahners Publishing Company (now Reed Business Information), rising from a part-time, temporary employee to senior financial analyst. Early in his career, Diekmann acted in regional theatre and Off-Off Broadway, as well as in commercials and film. He holds a certificate in acting from Circle-in-the-Square’s Professional Workshop program. For two decades, Diekmann has volunteered as a trail maintainer for the New York/ New Jersey Trail Conference, caring for a foot-trail in the Ramapo County Reservation.
