Good Principals Aren’t Born — They’re Mentored: Are We Investing Enough to Get the School Leaders We Need?

Drawing on new research, this report by the Southern Regional Education Board concludes that many mentoring programs for aspiring principals are weak. Common failings include poor training of mentors and too much busy work. The report calls on districts and universities that train principals to make mentoring and its participants much more accountable for achieving agreed-upon standards.
