A 50-minute broadcast segment on KERA, the north Texas public radio affiliate, centers on the path-breaking work of Dallas’ Thriving Minds, a Wallace-supported effort to bring arts learning to children and teenagers both in and outside of school. Daniel Windham, director of arts at Wallace, and Gigi Antoni, president of Big Thought, the group that runs Thriving Minds, describe the workings of the nationally recognized venture – a partnership among Dallas’ public schools, municipal agencies, arts organizations and others. They also answer callers’ questions and discuss issues ranging from what research has to say about arts education to the role of cultural institutions in bringing children the arts experiences they need to develop their creative muscles. Windham and Antoni were interviewed on Think, a four-times-weekly radio show hosted by Krys Boyd, shortly after Wallace announced a new, $4.3 million grant to Thriving Minds.
