In January, William Schambra, a prominent critic of foundations, spoke to The Wallace Foundation on his view that foundations should not focus their work on knowledge development or evidence. The talk, printed in Nonprofit Quarterly, is accompanied by a response from Wallace President Will Miller. Using examples, Miller says that “one of the most potent ways a foundation can contribute to progress is to help forge new ideas in the crucible of real-world experience.”
