Pioneering After-School Effort Expands Reach to Older Teens

NBC 10 WJAR, Providence

The Providence After School Alliance, founder of a nationally-acclaimed system of after-school programming for middle-school students in Providence, Rhode Island, has widened its reach to include older teenagers. Recently PASA, as the group is known, began building The Hub, a program targeted at high school students. “We’re really looking at crafting pathways to employment, to colleges and careers…,” says Damian Ewens, director of high school initiatives at PASA, which is supported by The Wallace Foundation. Reporter R. J. Heim says that if successful, the new program will give high school kids “a better shot at success” and “a bridge to their futures.”
