Back to main story

Initiated in 1992, the Artist-in-Residence Program at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was supported by the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund and expanded in 1996 with a four-year grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts. Between 1992 and 2000, 32 artists - writers and poets, as well as visual and performing artists - have participated in the program, producing some astonishing new work and cultivating a number of other successful programs at the museum as well.
