RFP Excellence Awards

June 12, 2006

Dear colleague,

We are pleased to enclose The Wallace Foundation’s Request for Proposals for the 2006 Wallace Excellence Awards.

Wallace Excellence Awards are designed to help selected arts organizations enhance effective practices that introduce more people to rewarding arts experiences. The Foundation’s goal is to make those practices broadly accessible to other organizations by documenting their impact, understanding how they work, and sharing that knowledge with other organizations.

Eligible arts organizations in Boston, Mass., and Chicago, Ill., may apply in one of two categories: project awards for organizations with budgets between $1 and $20 million; or sustaining awards for organizations with budgets of $20 million and above. The term “arts organization” includes arts presenting, producing and educational organizations working in all disciplines of the fine arts and serving members of the general public. It does not include organizations that provide general education, higher education (such as music conservatories), children’s museums, historical museums, media organizations or service organizations.

Organizations interested in applying should complete the Intent-to-Apply Form and submit it to the Foundation by June 30, 2006, no later than 5 p.m. EDT. Completed proposals are due by July 31, 2006, no later than 5 p.m. EDT.

Thank you for your interest in the Excellence Awards. We will be holding informational meetings in Boston and Chicago in the coming weeks and will contact you as soon as those are scheduled. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly with any questions you may have.

Yours truly,
