Students at a Boston elementary school learned something about the power of music to communicate when a young musician showed how the sounds of his trombone could convey everything from anger to excitement. The musician, a junior at the New England Conservatory, was visiting the John D. Philbrick school in the Roslindale neighborhood as part of a program from From the Top, an organization that encourages young people to participate in music. From the Top is one of seven Boston arts organizations that received grants from the Wallace Excellence Awards initiative, which seeks to build demand for the arts. To read the story, click here.
