Wallace Others Invest in the Future of National Public Radio

National Public Radio recently announced a total of $17 million in support from the Wallace, John S. and James L. Knight, Bill & Melinda Gates and Ford foundations, as well as three individual philanthropists. The funding will help NPR expand its coverage of key issues, including education, and build a platform that will enable listeners to consume content seamlessly across various digital platforms, from clock radios to smartphones to Internet-enabled cars. Each grant is tied to a different aspect of NPR’s journalism and innovation strategy, with Wallace’s $1.5 million over two years supporting a deepening focus on K-12 education and the arts.
